A week back from Hannover Messe 2023, I am sharing my thoughts on Industry 4.0 and what this means to manufacturers. In collaboration with Konektio, I will be looking at the implications of technology on manufacturing operations over the next few weeks though a series of podcasts.
Last week I posted about what industry 4.0 really means to industry and the phases companies should go through for its adoptions. We have a long way to go still for wide spread value from the enabling technologies and we must jump from the buzzwords to practical implementations.
To finish, I thoughts I’d add a fun fact about industry 4.0: In Japan, there is a hotel that is almost entirely run by robots, showcasing the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies. The Henn-na Hotel, located in Nagasaki, uses robots to perform many tasks, including check-in and check-out, room cleaning, and luggage handling. The hotel also uses facial recognition technology to identify guests and personalize their experiences. While there are some human staff members available to assist guests, the hotel is a prime example of how Industry 4.0 technologies can transform the hospitality industry.
