A really interesting read about the need for data sharing needs to drive sustainability changes.
Global manufacturing and production sectors are responsible for 20% of the world’s carbon emissions! While the need to reduce the industrial carbon footprint is high, the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is a first step to successfully measure and determine the total greenhouse gas emissions generated by an individual product. Recently, a World Economic Forumworking group developed a data sharing blueprint to trustfully and securely exchange PCF data along manufacturing and supply chain networks.
I’m excited to announce that Siemens – in collaboration with Arçelik Global, Dow and GreenPlat 🤝 was able to pioneer the exchange of PCF along a supply chain in an open ecosystem. This demonstration is a major milestone to put the principles for data sharing in supply chain at scale into practice. We significantly contributed to this achievement with our #SiGreen solution.
The teams simulated the PCF exchange in a hypothetical supply chain and demonstrated how carbon emissions data can be safely and securely shared along the entire supply chain – all within our open, decentralized and cross-industry #Estainium ecosystem. This network enables manufacturers, suppliers, customers and partners to exchange trustworthy PCF data and everyone benefits from having a complete and precise CO2 footprint covering the entire supply chain.
