Machine Health is Business Health

We all know the importance of machine maintenance and the impact this has on the bottom line. A new report by Augury looks at the connection between machine health and the business focus on curtailing critical equipment failures

In December 2021, Plant Services deployed its new Machine Maintenance & Reliability Industry Survey to explore this commitment to machine health and how organizations are putting it into action. The survey was sponsored by Augury, and more than 150 respondents took part, comprised of both corporate and plant floor professionals from industries such as pulp and paper, building products, and food and beverage.

When asked “What is the biggest risk to meeting your production targets” (see Figure 2 from the report) the “Unexpected equipment failures” was the biggest risk by Managers and workers alike. Whilst this is important, it is worth reading the report further to understand the differences of risk between “Corporate” and the “Frontline”. The is quite telling and something companies should look too address more so all teams in the business have a common view.
